- HB236 - Kaitlyn's Law
Establishes Kaitlyn's Law which requires school districts to allow certain students with disabilities to participate in graduation ceremonies after four years of high school attendance. Emergency Clause. - HB265 - Public School Retirement System
Changes the laws regarding the Public School Retirement System of Missouri and the Public Education Employee Retirement System of Missouri. - HB289 - Special Education Due Process
Requires the designation of an agent for a binding signature on a placement settlement and makes the five-business-day notice applicable to all special education due process hearings. - HB490 - A+ Schools
Allows all public vocational and technical schools to participate in the A+ Schools Program without stipulations. - HB506 - METS Week
Requires the Governor to issue an annual proclamation designating the first week of March as "Math, Engineering, Technology and Science (METS) Week." - HB682 - School Make-up Days Due to Inclement Weather
Allows an exception for the 2008-2009 school year regarding the laws for school make-up days due to inclement weather. Emergency Clause. - HB922 - Allergy Prevention
Requires each school district to adopt a policy on allergy prevention and response with priority given to addressing potentially deadly food-borne allergies. The policy must be in place by July 1, 2011.
- SB232 - Discrimination
This act prohibits municipal fire departments, municipal police departments, state agencies, state departments, and political subdivisions from discriminating in employment practices based on an individual's elementary or secondary education program, provided that the program is permitted under Missouri law. Employers may require individuals to have other abilities or skills applicable to their position. - SB291 - Education
Modifies provisions relating to education. Effective date varies.
