| HB181 | Beginning January 1, 2008, this bill requires closed or open captioning on electronic video instructional materials, as specified in the bill, designed for use in educational institutions. If a publisher knowingly fails to comply with the requirements, the entity that paid for the materials may receive damages of three times the amount paid to have them captioned. | Summary |

Beginning July 1, 2008, every child enrolled in kindergarten or first grade shall receive comprehensive vision examinations by a state licensed optometrist or physician, and before the completion of first and third grade, school districts must conduct and eye screen for each student. |

| SB22 | Grants districts located in a county that creates a county municipal court to receive an additional payment equal to the decrease in fines from those received in fiscal year 2005. Revises boundary change vote language from "next general municipal election" to "next election." Assigns the highest dollar value modifies of the counties found in Monroe City to the school district. |

| SB30 | Assigns school districts to metropolitan statistical areas for the purpose of determining the dollar value modifier in the school foundation formula. When a school district contains territory from more than one county, the district is assigned to the county in which the district headquarters are located. The Monroe City R-II School District will be assigned to the county that will yield the highest dollar value modifier. | Summary |
| SB64 | Limits the opening date of the school year to 10 calendar days prior to Labor Day. Authorizes the Commissioner of Education to reduce the required number of hours and days in inclement weather prevents students from attending. Development of high quality mentoring standards for beginning teachers and principals. Provides for district funded enrollment in the state virtual school from districts with two consecutive APR's at provisional or unaccredited. Requires districts to make up the first six days missed due to inclement weather, plus half of the days cancelled in excess of six days. |

| SB389 | The Joint Committee on Education is charged with monitoring, studying, and analyzing the higher education system in the state, as well as monitoring the establishment of performance measures required by this act and reporting on such measures to the General Assembly. The Committee's mandate is modified to require meeting at least twice a year. This act creates the Missouri Teaching Fellows Program which allows qualified graudates of Missouri public higher education institutions hired to teach in unaccredited school districts to participate in a loan repayment program. Requires that the Coordinating Board for Higher Education establish competencies for certain entry-level courses. | Summary |
