The Department has prepared a frequently asked questions document to address common questions related to school districts which are or may become unaccredited.
Senate Bill 1, adopted during the 2011 Extraordinary Session, modifies the provisions of the Amy Hestir Student Protection Act by repealing express restrictions on teacher use of work-related internet sites and nonwork-related internet sites. This bill mandates local boards of education to adopt policies relating to this issue.
The 2011 legislative session ended on May 13, 2011, with the passage of several education-related bills.

As of September 2007, all school districts in Missouri are required to have an antibullying policy. The following information and resources are provided to help educators, parents and community members recognize bullying behavior and approaches for determining how to respond.
Changes in Missouri law (RSMo 160.263) require all school districts in the state of Missouri to develop a policy on the use of seclusion and restraint, as well as other responses to emergency or crisis situations, in which student and/or educator safety is at risk.
