Assessments for Teacher Education & Certification in MO

The practice of assessing candidates for entry into teacher education and for certification in Missouri was authorized by the Excellence in Education Act in 1985. The Missouri State Board of Education has adopted the Missouri General Education Assessment (MoGEA) as the official assessment required for admittance into professional education programs in the state's colleges and universities. The Board has also adopted the Praxis II: Content Knowledge/Specialty Area Tests to be the official assessments required for the certification of teachers and student services personnel, and it has adopted the School Leaders Licensure Assessment (SLLA) and the School Superintendent Assessments (SSA) as the assessments for school administrators until Fall 2014.

The Paraprofessional Assessment is for individuals seeking to be employed as teaching assistants residing in Title I schools.
