Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know what Regional Professional Development Center I belong to?

You may view the Regional Professional Development Center (RPDC) area map by clicking on the following link http://www.dese.mo.gov/divteachqual/leadership/rpdc/rpdc_map.html.  Find the county in which you live or work.  Match the color of your county with the color shown in the legend.  This is your Regional Professional Development Center.

What does "year conferred" mean on my subsidy application?

On your application, year conferred refers to the year in which you received your degree.

Why does the state require that I pay $500.00, and National Board only requires me to pay $300.00?

National Board requires a $300.00 initial payment in order for candidates to receive their box.  The state requires that a candidate pays one quarter of the total application fee of $2,500.00, which is $500.00.  The $300.00 initial payment is part of the candidates $500.00 responsibility.

When will I know if I have been approved for subsidy funding?

You will receive a confirmation letter from our office within a week if you have been awarded funding.  Names of candidates receiving state subsidy funding will also be added to our website.  During our "open windows" these pages are updated regularly.

When should I mail my payment to National Board?

Candidates are strongly urged to hold onto their payment to National Board until they have received confirmation form our office. A portion of your check to National Board is non-refundable.

Are there support groups or facilitators that can assist me through this process?

Yes, we strongly encourage you to seek the help of a facilitator or cohort group.  You may access a listing of the facilitators in you area through the following link. http://www.dese.mo.gov/divteachqual/leadership/nbc/contact.html

Am I eligible to apply for State Subsidy Funding if I am teaching for a private or charter school?
