MSDC Recognizes Linda Dooling

Linda Dooling

The Missouri Staff Development Council announced that Linda Dooling will receive the 2008 Recognition of High Quality Instructional Leadership Award during their Show-Me PD Conference held in March, 2008. This honor is given to those who have made significant contributions to staff development throughout their professional career and serves as a testament to the state's professional development practices and impact on student achievement. In her current role, Director of Teacher Development, she demonstrates ability to organize numerous stakeholders into learning communities to affect adult learning, district goals as well as student achievement.

She has organized STARR, Teachers Academy, and National Board Certification and has made these programs truly valuable to our state. These programs give high quality professional development to teachers who in return, take the knowledge that they have learned back to their district and vest it in the children whom they teach and also their fellow colleagues.

She has worked to increase the number of National Board Certified Teachers in Missouri while improving the quality of the program. She manages several professional development grants to utilize financial resources to support learning in these various programs. Linda was instrumental in bringing the Gates grant to Missouri. This grant allowed over 1500 administrators to be trained in technology leadership.

Linda has also led the writing and editing of the Professional Development Guidelines for Student Success which is used by all Professional Development Committees in our state. Recently she co-chaired the new state standards for teacher mentoring which goes into effect this spring. She is credited with bringing the Teachers Academy into the Leadership Academy's scope of work and continues to work to insure statewide continuity of the content of the program.

Linda brings experience, knowledge and passion for the profession into every program that she oversees. With over 25 years of experience as an educator, she has always kept the statement "What is best for kids" at the forefront of her mind.
