Subject: Special Education Part B 2011-12 Payment Request Due Dates

The Special Education IDEA Section 611 (Part B) payment request due dates for FY12 are now posted on the Special Education Finance website at  Please keep in mind that districts may not begin obligating expenditures in FY12 until their 2011-12 Part B Budget Application has been submitted and substantially approved.

Beginning July 1, 2011, payment requests must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. on the first business day of the month or payment will not be processed until the next month.  In addition, districts will be required to indicate their expenditures to date on the payment request.  The system will automatically compare the expenditures to date with the cumulative payments to determine if the district is eligible under the Cash Management Improvement Act for the payment amount requested. 

Since the FER deadline has been extended to September 30, 2011, districts will be able to make payment requests through June, July, August, and September for the FY11 cycle (as long as an FER has not been created).
