Subject: State-Wide Electronic IEP System/UPDATE

Source: Heidi Atkins Lieberman, Assistant Commissioner

Intended Audience: Stakeholders

Date: December 17, 2009

As you know, we have been working on the State-Wide Electronic IEP System project for a couple of years now, and a few weeks ago the Request for Proposal was made public with bidders given until December 17 to submit bids to the State of Missouri.  We had planned on the pilot districts beginning the pilot with the 2010-11 school year, after selection and training beginning in May.  All of these plans were made prior to the Race To The Top fund  (RTTT) initiative.  This initiative focuses on four educational reform areas; Data Systems is one of those areas.

Missouri is currently working on its application for the RTTT competition.  The application is due January 19, and awards are expected to be announced in April.  The State-Wide Electronic IEP System plans have been put on hold pending the outcome of the RTTT competition.  It is clear that given this delay, the contract for such a system would not be awarded in time to begin the pilot next school year as originally planned.

Thanks to the many districts that have contacted me and offered to serve as volunteers during the pilot year; I will hold onto all of those e-mails for future use.

I will keep you posted.
