Subject: Deaf/Hard of Hearing Workshop for Administrators, October 2-3 -- Save the Date Source: Julia LePage, Interim Director, Effective Practices Intended Audience: Public school administrators with responsibilities for serving children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing Date: May 5, 2008 DESE has purchased a workshop from the National Association of State Directors of Special Education (NASDSE), for public school district administrators, on Meeting the Needs of Students who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing (HOH). This workshop will be held in Jefferson City on October 2-3, 2008. Space is limited to 50 participants, who MUST be public school administrators. Each district will be limited to one registrant, but if additional spaces are available a second person from a district may be allowed to register. If space is still available after registration closes, administrators from approved private agencies that serve students who are Deaf/HOH will be allowed to register for the workshop. Specifics about registration will be released soon, but we wanted you to have the dates well in advance should you be interested. Registration for the workshop will be $100. This fee will cover both days of the workshop. In addition to the workshop fee, you will need to pay for your travel expenses. The workshop is designed to deliver the most current information on requirements, practices, and resources for improving educational services for students who are Deaf/HOH. Participants will also work on identified state issues and proposed solutions and create a Deaf/HOH community of practice. |
