As I mentioned in my April 1, 2009, webinar, the U. S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) has revised the State Performance Plan (SPP)/Annual Performance Report (APR) indicator that deals with post-secondary outcomes. The webinar is available at http://www.dese.mo.gov/divspeced/mnthlywebstrmHAL.html, and a summary of the changes is posted at http://dese.mo.gov/divspeced/DataCoord/documents/Indicator14changes.pdf.
In order to comply with the changes, we are going to need follow-up data on graduates as well as dropouts, and the data will need to be more detailed than in the past. We are looking into the best way to collect this data, but have not yet determined the methodology. Regardless of how the data is collected, it will be important to have better and more follow-up contact information on students dropping out and graduating this current school year. Please keep this in mind as the school year is wrapping up and help us ensure we have the best contact information possible.
