Subject: Grants Available to Obtain Visual Impairment and Orientation and Mobility Certification Source: Heike Imler, Interim Assistant Director, Effective Practices Intended Audience: Special Education Administrators, teachers, and others interested in the education and services for students who are blind or visually impaired Date: December 27, 2008 Missouri State University is searching for applicants to fill eight openings in the Project Diverse Federal Personnel Prep Grant. Project Diverse is a 33-credit-hour dual program leading to certification in Visual Impairment and Orientation and Mobility. Federal funding is available to provide assistance with tuition, books, and approved additional expenses. To qualify for funding, applicants must meet admissions criteria and agree to complete a two-year service obligation with a Local Education Agency (LEA) in the field of Visual Impairment and/or Orientation and Mobility for each year of federal funding. The deadline for applications is January 11, 2008, and applicants will be notified of the decision of the admissions committee no later than March 15, 2008.
