A new captioning statute (Section 170.135 RSMo) will take effect January 1, 2008.  This statute requires "publishers or manufacturers of electronic video instructional materials to supply the videos with open or closed captions to make the materials more accessible for students with hearing impairments."  To view a question and answer sheet, provided by the Missouri Assistive Technology Advisory Council, describing what manufacturers must do when providing educational videos go to http://dese.mo.gov/divspeced/EffectivePractices/ under the Bulletin Board click on Information Bulletin.
