Subject: Deaf/Hard of Hearing Workshop for
Administrators, November 1-2 CANCELLED
Source: Heidi Atkins Lieberman, Assistant Commissioner
Intended Audience: Directors of Special Education and other special
education administrators responsible for serving students who are Deaf/Hard
of Hearing
Date: October 10, 2007
We have had to cancel the scheduled workshop from the National Association
of State Directors of Special Education (NASDSE), for school district
administrators, on Meeting the Needs of Students who are Deaf and Hard of
Hearing.
The workshop was designed for 50 participants, who had to be current public
school administrators (only one person per district) with responsibilities
for supervising services to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
Unfortunately, only 30 administrators registered (not counting those who
attempted to register who were not administrators or those whose district
was already represented by another registrant).
The workshop is designed to deliver the most current information on
requirements, practices, and resources for improving educational services
for students who are DHH. Stakeholders had indicated a great need for this
type of workshop. I am open to trying this again sometime in the future, but
would need to establish commitments to attend before I would be willing to
enter into a contract again.
