At their April 19, 2007, meeting, the State Board of Education acted on
proposed changes for the Part B State Regulations implementing the
Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). Prior to the State Board
action, the Division of Special Education published the proposed regulation
changes, solicited public comments, and held public hearings throughout the
state. The regulation changes primarily reflect the new federal regulations
implementing IDEA, which became effective on October 13, 2006.
The final regulations, as approved by the State Board of Education, a
summary of the written comments received, the Division of Special
Education's response, and the action by the State Board of Education can be
