Subject: End of Year Data Collection for
2006-07
Source: Mary Corey, Director, Data Coordination
Intended Audience: Special Education Directors and Personnel
Date: April 6, 2007
The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) requires that the
state collect information from districts on students who are
parentally-placed in private schools and students who received Early
Intervening Services (EIS).
EIS are services that the district may provide, using up to 15 percent of
IDEA Part B funds, to students who have NOT been identified as needing
special education and related services, but who need additional academic and
behavioral support to succeed in a general education environment.
The following link will take you to a web screen where the data can be
reported. Simply select your county-district code and 2006-07, fill in the
data, and click on submit:
http://dese.mo.gov/forms/divspeced/a5002613/a5002613.html. All districts
must submit this information, even if all of the responses are zero.
Regarding students parentally-placed in private schools, report the number
of students evaluated during the 2006-07 school year, the number of those
evaluated that were found eligible, and the number of those found eligible
that received special education or related services from your district. This
is NOT a total count of parentally-placed private school children served by
your district.
Regarding EIS, report the number of students who received EIS from your
district during the 2006-07 school year. Include children in grades
kindergarten through 12. The second item asks for the number of students
with disabilities on the December 1, 2006, child count who received EIS
during the previous school year (2005-06).

Education Data Coordination Section at 573-526-0299 or email
