Subject: Special Education End of Year Reports
(Screens 12, 13, 14, and 9)
Source: Jacqueline McKim, Planner, Data Coordination
Intended Audience: Special Education personnel responsible for Core Data
reporting
Date: April 5, 2007
The following details four June Cycle Core Data screens used to collect data
about students with disabilities. Note that Screens 9 and 12 data are used
for public reporting of data as required by IDEA04 through the State
Performance Plan.
1) Screen 9 - report all discipline incidents for all students, regular and
special education, that resulted in in-school or out-of-school suspensions
regardless of duration of removal. Please note that Length includes removals
of ½ day or more. For further information, see Core Data Manual Screen 9.
2) Screen 12 - an unduplicated count by building of children ages 3 through
22 on December 1 who exited special education from July 1 to June 30 of the
current school year including students ages 3 through 5 who received early
childhood special education services and will enter Kindergarten. See Core
Data Manual Exhibit 20 at
http://www.dese.mo.gov/divspeced/DataCoord/PDF/X20ExitCat.pdf for the
list of exit categories. The disability category and age should correspond
to the information reported on Screen 11 as of December 1, 2006. Data should
reflect students served by your district either directly or contractually.
NOTE: Elementary (K-8) districts should NOT report their high school
students who are attending school in a different district. These students
should be reported by the high school district. Special School Districts and
Component Districts should only report exiting data on Screen 12 for those
students included on the respective districts' Screen 11.
3) Screen 13 - graduation, dropout, and transfer data for all students,
regular and special education (except K-8 districts). In addition to being
included in the totals by gender and race, students with disabilities should
also be reported in the column labeled "IEP." These data are being used in
AYP calculations.
4) Screen 14 - attendance data for all students, regular and special
education. In addition to being included in the totals by race, students
with disabilities should also be reported in the columns labeled "IEP."
All data for June cycle screens should be collected now so that data can be
submitted by the July 15 due date; however, data must reflect the close of
the 2006-2007 school year.
Additional information on end-of-year reporting regarding parentally-placed
private school children and children who received early intervening services
will be sent out soon.
