Subject: Assistive Technology/Power Up 2008 Conference and Expo Source: Leone Herring, Supervisor, Effective Practices Intended Audience: Special Educators and Administrators, Audiologists, Speech Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, Instructional Technology Coordinators, Educators, Independent Living Staff, Physical Therapists, Information Technology Technicians, Librarians and Media Specialists, and Service Providers Date: February 27, 2008 Power Up 2008, the assistive technology conference & expo, is scheduled for April 21-22, 2008, at Tan-Tar-A Resort, Osage Beach, Missouri. Power Up 2008 features a variety of sessions which provide up-to-date information on disability related policy, assistive technology services and devices, independent living issues, educational policy and practices, and information technology accessibility to enhance and promote independence of people with disabilities. There will be five pre-conference sessions. One of those is on electronic text (like NIMAS file sets) and how e-text can/should be used in Response to Intervention (RtI) and other similar initiatives to support student achievement. The session is entitled: Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and E-text: Concepts, Promises & Pitfalls, and the presenter is Dr. Joy Zabala.
