Subject: Transition/Community of Practice - Save the Date Source: Barb Gilpin, Interim Assistant Director, Effective Practices Intended Audience: Special Education Teachers, General Education Teachers, Special Education Directors, Counselors, Principals, Superintendents, Work Experience Coordinators Date: February 13, 2008 March 3-14, 2008, ASK THE EXPERT ONLINE EVENT For a two-week period (March 3-14, 2008), the Missouri Interagency Transition Team (MITT) will be joining the online Missouri Community of Practice (CoP) to answer questions generated by you! See information below for logging on to the Missouri CoP. The MITT is comprised of state-level coordinators from DESE divisions of Vocational Rehabilitation, Special Education, Career Education, and School Improvement, as well as other stakeholders such as Department of Corrections, Juvenile Justice, MPACT, and MOCASE. This is your chance to ask about coordinating services with adolescent and adult-service agencies. Ongoing Event, MISSOURI ONLINE COMMUNITY OF PRACTICE The Transition Coalition University of Kansas, in collaboration with DESE has upgraded the FREE online Community of Practice (CoP) devoted to topics around transition planning. Educators, vocational coordinators, regional consultants, and anyone interested in transition are welcome to join the community to share resources, ask questions, and collaborate. To participate: 1. Go to the new Missouri Transition website, http://www.missouritransition.org/moodle/. 2. Choose Missouri Community of Practice. 3. "Create new account" for this site (even if you had an account on the old Community of Practice site). 4. Fill out the information; make sure to note your user name and password; you will need them each time you visit the Community of Practice. You will then receive an email from the site. 5. Open the email and click on the link to confirm that you would like to join the Missouri Community of Practice. If you do not receive this email within one hour, please email Dr. Amy Gaumer Erickson, aerickson@ku.edu, and she will work with you. 6. Return to the Missouri Transition Community of Practice website, http://www.missouritransition.org/moodle/ to access resources, share information, ask questions, and learn about upcoming events. |
