Subject: Response to Intervention (RtI) Upcoming Online Presentations Source: Thea Scott, Supervisor, Compliance Intended Audience: Educators Date: January 31, 2008 Important things to watch for if you are interested in RtI: In March 2008, Erica Lembke will host an online interactive discussion with districts interested in learning about Response to Intervention, offer feedback from districts currently implementing RtI, and answer questions that interested districts may have regarding movement toward implementation of an RtI model. In late February, Dr. Lembke will present an online presentation "RtI: What It Is and What It Isn't." The purpose of the presentation is to develop an awareness level of RtI and to assist districts in assessing current status in terms of district acceptance of this three-tiered educational model. An assessment/evaluative tool will also be available on the Division of Special Education homepage to assist districts in identifying their current status and identify steps required to move toward implementation of an RtI model. In April 2008, another online presentation, "RtI-Key Components," will be released. The focus of this presentation is to present the essential components of RtI and to assist districts in evaluating the steps needed to move toward implementation. Once posted, the presentations will be available for viewing on the Division's homepage http://www.dese.mo.gov/divspeced/ at no cost. Please share this information with regular educators and administrators in your school districts and tell them this is information that can improve student achievement. |
