Subject: Transition/Deafblind/Customized Employment, Independence, Missouri, April 21, 2008 Source: Missouri Deafblind Technical Assistance Project, Missouri School for the Blind Intended Audience: Special educators and service providers involved with employment training for students who are deafblind as they transition to adult services Date: January 10, 2008 Michael Callahan, who recently presented at the National Deafblind Consortium Topical Workshops, will present an overview of customized employment using the discovery model that he uses in his approach to teaching individuals with deafblindness and multiple disabilities. Key areas of the training include: * Effective practices in planning and conducting alternative vocational assessments for consumers with deafblindness * Effective practices in job development * Effective practices for placement and retention * Effective practices for funding The day-long workshop is free with lunch on your own. Registration deadline is Friday, March 28, 2008.
