I write to invite you to lead an expedition and share your knowledge this fall at the NAGC 56th Annual Convention, November 5-8, in St. Louis.
The NAGC Convention happens only once each year. There you’ll discover authoritative voices and information pioneers in the field of gifted all converging to explore new frontiers.
Submit your best ideas. NAGC Network leaders and the NAGC Program Committee will traverse the next leg of the journey as they carefully consider each one for possible inclusion in program.

The January 30th deadline for submitting proposals is rapidly approaching, so don’t miss your chance to share your expertise with other leaders in the field of gifted!
MO SCHOLARS ACADEMY (MSA)
MO Scholars Academy (MSA) The Missouri Scholars Academy will be held at the University of Missouri-Columbia from June 7-27, 2009 for gifted students who have completed their sophomore year of high school. Please check with your superintendent to secure the information you will need to submit your district nomination(s). MSA nomination information was mailed to your superintendent in November. MSA nominations must be postmarked by February 6, 2009.
Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate exam fee payment program applications and instructions are available at the Department's web site at http://dese.mo.gov/divimprove/gifted/index.html and clicking on the AP or IB links. The deadline for submitting applications is April 30, 2009.

SUMMER OPPORTUNITIES FOR GIFTED STUDENTS
Summer Pals/Summer Quest, June 15-26, 2009
Drury University and Springfield Public Schools work together to sponsor a summer experience for gifted students. For grades pre-kindergarten (must turn 5 by August 1, 2009), kindergarten and grades 1, this experience is Summer Pals; for grades 2-5, Summer Quest. Summer Quest/Summer Pals classes are held June 15-26, 2009 (Monday through Friday). Classes for Summer Pals will meet from 8:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Sunshine Elementary. Classes for Summer Quest will meet from 8:15 – 11:15 a.m. at Phelps Center for the Gifted. Class size is limited to 16 students. Courses are taught be highly qualified, effective teachers who understand and use both enrichment and acceleration. Courses are hands-on, activity oriented and highly motivating. SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE!!
Summerscape, July 12-23, 2009
Summerscape is designed for intellectually gifted students who have completed grades 6-8. Courses are selected and planned to provide an academic challenge and creative experiences. Classes are limited to 16 students. Thirty-eight courses could be offered in the areas of archaeology, music, debate, theater, computer science, journalism, video production, high-tech concepts, foreign language, photography, zoology, conservation, and leadership. Campus recreational facilities are available. Hands-on experiences, field trips, and the opportunity to interact with international students are key components of Summerscape. Students opting to live on campus will be housed in dormitories at Drury University. SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE!!
Drury Leadership Academy, July 12-23, 2009
The Drury Leadership Academy is a program for high-achieving high school students who have completed grades 9-12. Courses are available in leadership, science, philosophy and humanities. Students may take two courses. In addition to academic endeavors, the Drury Leadership Academy is designed to provide appropriate cultural and recreational activities with emphasis on leadership skills and leadership for the future. Drury Leadership Academy students may enroll for one hour college credit (at no additional cost) per class taken. Students opting to live on campus will be housed in dormitories at Drury University. SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE!!
