New Teachers in Gifted Education Workshop

July 28-29, 2008, Drury University, Springfield, MO

The workshop will run from 9:00 a.m. on Monday, July 28, and end at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 29.  The cost for registration is $80.00.  The fee includes all workshop materials and continental breakfast and lunch on both days of the workshop.  In order to register, make checks for $80.00 payable to Gifted Association of Missouri.  Send the check and completed registration form to the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.   No purchase orders will be accepted.  A confirmation of your registration will be sent to you prior to the workshop.

One semester hour of graduate credit in gifted education is available for a separate $265.00 fee, to be paid to the Drury University on site.

A block of rooms has been reserved at the Holiday Inn Express with a special room rate of $114.00. You must make your own hotel reservations. Contact the Holiday Inn Express directly at (417) 862-0070.  To get the special workshop rate, be sure to specify that you are with the Gifted Association of Missouri New Teachers Workshop.  The hotel will honor the $114.00 room rate ONLY until June 27th.

Workshop Announcement: Identifying Gifted English Language Learners

Description: This presentation is designed to assist educators who are concerned with meeting the needs of gifted or potentially gifted English Language Learners (ELL). More specifically, those in attendance will gain knowledge related to the following areas:

1. The impact of culture on talent development 2. Identification of Gifted English Language Learners 3. Programming for Gifted English Language Learners
