SUBJECT: Free Web Chat at Education Week on RTI and English Learners

On May 5, Education Week will host a free Web chat featuring two researchers who specialize in how to implement "response to intervention" with English-language learners. Response to intervention, or RTI, is an approach for meeting the needs of struggling students with an aim toward reducing the number of referrals to special education.
The two guests will be Douglas Fisher, a professor of education and the director of professional development for San Diego State University, and Jana Echevarria, a professor emerita of education at California State University, Long Beach. The hour-long chat will start at 1 p.m., Missouri time. If you miss the live event, you can pull up the transcript later in Education Week archives.
