SUBJECT: Preliminary Allocations for 2012-2013 School Year

The Department has calculated preliminary 2012-2013 (FY13) allocation amounts. These are preliminary allocations because certain updated formula data is not yet available. However, the United States Department of Education (USED) did use the updated census numbers to project allocations to the States. The allocations can be found at http://www.dese.mo.gov/divimprove/fedprog/financialmanagement/2012-13allocations.htm.
Please keep in mind that these allocations are preliminary until they are clearly marked as final.
The Department continues to monitor discussions in Washington, DC focused on federal education funding and Sequestration. Sequestration is a procedure by which automatic spending cuts are triggered and is scheduled to start January 2013 on all federal discretionary funds, which include education grants.
