Tuesday, November 21 is the deadline to register for the “Bilingual Story
Hours” sponsored by the Missouri State Library. The workshops will provide
participants with an opportunity to explore program development for the
presentation of bilingual story hours with accompanying activities, bilingual
outreach services and collaboration with community groups to provide the
services. Emphasis will be on Spanish bilingual presentations. Fluency in
Spanish is not required for participation in this workshop. Workshops are
scheduled for:
• December 4, 2006, Jefferson County Library – Northwest Branch, High
Ridge
• December 5, 2006, Marshall Public Library, Marshall
The workshops are free to Missouri library personnel including school

Money to help pay for inservice and workshop attendance Show Me Steps to Career Development Grants Applications taken throughout the year Show Me Steps to Career Development grants provide financial assistance for library staff and public library trustees to participate in continuing education and training opportunities when local funds cannot finance the entire cost. Eligible activities include: regional, state, and national workshops, pre-conferences, conferences, seminars or other development programs offered by professional associations or other appropriate public or non-profit entities, Web-based instructional courses, and technical or special training sessions offered by non-profit providers.

Teaching the Teachers: A Key to Student Success
is a half-hour KETC-produced
program that looks at how Missouri teachers are continuing their education for
the benefit of students and explores how technology is impacting the future of
professional development for educators. Teaching the Teachers: A Key to
Student Success will air Sunday, November 12 at 1:30 pm and Thursday,
November 16 at 9:30 pm on KETC/Channel 9. For more information about the

In an effort to make professional development more accessible, KETC has joined
with the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, the eMINTS
National Center, Missouri State University, and Missouri public broadcast
stations to provide eLearning for Educators: Missouri to teachers throughout the
state. eLearining for Educators is a unique project that creates professional
development coursework and offers K-12 educators the opportunity to take
professional development online. The five-year project between public
broadcasting stations and education agencies is taking place in eight states is
project is funded by a U.S. Department of Education Ready to Teach grant. For
