Last Minute Update to the Pre-Conference Workshop 3 Information  “Unleash the POWER of Summer Reading”

Look at the research about summer reading and study your district’s opportunities for summer reading programs as you work with other library media specialists with good ideas and valuable experience. Study a planning model, hear about successful programs, and help others figure out ways to improve their summer reading programs. This session will look at the summer reading theme materials provided to each school by DESE through the Missouri State Library before brainstorming plans for summer 2007. Separate discussions for elementary and secondary library media specialists will be facilitated.

Instructors: The Liberty (MO) School District Library Media Team is in its third year of comprehensive summer programming in all schools. Carroll Makemson will facilitate the workshop with help from experienced elementary, middle, junior high and high school library media specialists whose summer experiences range from story times, crafts and games to online Mark Twain quizzes and blogs.
