Students should show their work and arrive at the conclusion that all three situations have the same ratio of areas (answer ).  This conclusion is not what many will expect, so discussing the work and results will prove beneficial for most students.  Other questions could include what would be the region of each square that is not covered by any circles?  Again the result is that the “non-circular” area is congruent (answer ).
