LIBRARY MEDIA SPECIALIST

 

JOB TITLE: Library Media Clerk

REPORT TO: Library Media Specialist & Building Principal

RESPONSIBLITIES: To support the library media specialist in providing a technologically-rich library media program and assist in the supervision of the students and volunteers.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ability to communicate with students and staff.

  • Willingness and ability to follow directions in performing all duties assigned by the library media specialist within district guidelines as stated in the manual of operation.

  • Exemplifies qualities necessary for positive inter-relations with students and staff.

  • Assist students and staff in locating information resources within and outside the school.

  • Supports library media specialists in special reading promotional programs for students.

  • Belief in the concept of library media programs that support and enrich the curriculum.

  • Possess the quality of self motivation and demonstrate a desire to learn and grow with the library media program.

  • Able to use telecommunications as a communications and resource tool.

  • Create documents in a variety of computer applications on multiple platforms.

  • Adequate typing skills.

  • Knowledge of basic clerical procedures and the importance of accuracy.

  • Flexible in performing numerous daily duties which require the ability to move from one task to another.

  • Assist students and staff in using information technology applications in research and instruction.

  • Create documents in a variety of computer applications on multiple platforms.

  • Possess basic computer knowledge including:

Inputting data

Downloading and uploading data

Formatting and copying disks

Maintaining back-ups

Generating circulation and overdue reports
