NEWS

Proposal Selections have been made.  Thank you to everyone who was able to help with the evaluation of the proposals!  We are still looking for high quality proposals, in particular secondary math and high school chemistry.  Please visit with Linda (Linda.Lacy@dese.mo.gov) if you have anyone in mind!

Also, please email Linda or Christie with any contact information for companies who are leading their industries in research.  We would like to include a research/hot topics strand in this year's conference.

Please send names of potential speakers (or contacts for speaker bureaus), organization/industry, and contact information to Linda and/or Susan Hodges (Susan.Hodges@dese.mo.gov).  We are requesting that they, or their designee, serve as a workshop session speaker at Missouri's Interface Conference for math and science teachers.  We will include their presentation in the newly created business/research strand.

We ask that the presentation relate to our conference theme, "Making Connections for Student Success: Why do we have to know
this?"  Specifically, we would like them to share their research/industry knowledge in the fields of _______ in person or via telecom hardware through a 45-minute or 90-minute strand on Friday, February 23 (elementary) and Monday, February 26 (secondary).  They might also address how math and science advances will change the way we, and our students, live in 5, 10, 25, 50 and 100 years in the future.  This might include a discussion of anticipated career opportunities and the education/skills necessary for those future employees.  There is some crossover of the other four strands, which include math, science, inquiry, literacy, and technology, with the business and research strand.  We also ask that they please consider leaving time for a question/answer session at the end of the presentation.
