In response to the transition to the Common Core Standards and the resulting statewide need to boost writing instruction in both academic and career and technical education courses, the Missouri Writing Projects Network, in conjunction with DESE, has developed a two-day workshop focused on linking the important skills of technical writing and technology. The MAKE/Do-It-Yourself (DIY) workshop affords participants the opportunity to complete a hands-on project and the related technical and reflective writing. From jewelry made from recycled materials to miniature robots, this workshop will fit the interests of teachers in all subject areas and offer new instructional strategies in technical writing and reflection.
