LESSON DESCRIPTION

Students go to the media center to locate text for their presentations. Students begin practicing and planning for presentations.

LS2         In discussions and presentations, speak clearly and stay on topic, use appropriate tone of voice, rate of speech, fluency/inflections and eye contact.

LEARNING ACTIVITIES

 

Idea

§         Make arrangements for library and computer lab time for students to choose reading selections.

§         Have copies of buddy evaluation ready.

§         If library time cannot be acquired use books from your personal collection.

§         Have library or computer specialist bookmark sites that would lead students to poetry or readings on particular topics.

 

1.        Remind students to locate two examples on a similar topic from two different texts. They will read fluently to the class. Review and discuss the Presentation Scoring Guide.

 

2.        Take students to the library/computer lab to research and locate texts for their presentation.

 

Idea

§         Prompt students who are slow to make selection

§         Assist students in identifying specific strategies in creating a good performance

 

3.        Students practice and complete the Presentation Planning Page.

 

4.        Collect planning page at the end of the hour.

 

5.        Assign practicing the two selections for homework.
