Obj. 1 Item 1. While reading the passage, identify four unknown words or phrases. Complete the chart by writing words or phrases, a definition for each and explain the reading strategies used.
Obj. 2. Item 2. In the chart below, add a prefix and a suffix to the given root word to make a new word. Explain the meaning/definition of the new word and use it correctly in a sentence.
Obj. 3 Item 3a. Using the passage “Storms Hit The U.S.”, read the title of the passage and write a prediction on what the passage might be about.
Obj. 3 3b. As you read the passage, write two questions you would like to have answered within the passage.
3c. Draw a picture of what you saw in your mind as you read the passage.
3.d. After you read the text, look back at your two questions in Item #3b. Did you find the answers? Yes/No. Explain your answer.
3f. Based on your reading of the passage, “Storms Hit the U.S.”, explain what is meant by “It’s winter. It’s supposed to be like this.” Use details and/or examples from the passage to support your response.
