Inference/Prediction

1. “But they soon found out that there were different dangers here when they discovered a tasty morsel of blue cheese sitting on a pine board. This time you take the cheese. I’m still shaking from being caught in the cheese box”, the country mouse said. So her husband crept toward the cheese, whiskers trembling. As he reached it, his foot slipped, and he heard a whoosh, followed by an enormous snap, and he was thrown across the room. He landed in a warm bundle of something soft and furry.

Infer what the “pine board” was and what the country mouse landed on.

2. “But before he could answer, she saw a pair of glowering eyes right beside them and they were face to face with the most terrifying creature of all.  ‘A cat with wings!’ shrieked the town mouse.”

Infer what “a cat with wings” really is.

3. “Owl, how would you like to trade places with me? I’ve always wanted to try the simple life in the country!”

Using your prior knowledge of owls living in the country and cats living in a house in the city, predict what might happen to them if they trade places.
