ABOUT THE ASSESSMENT
- As part of their curriculum, students in Missouri must earn a 1/2 credit in the area of Personal Finance. Beginning with the graduating class of 2010, students who are taking a course in which Personal Finance competencies are embedded or students who are attempting to test out of the Personal Finance course must take this assessment. Students may take the assessment once per testing window. Districts are encouraged, but not required to take the pre-test as well as the operational. Those districts that have a stand-alone Personal Finance course also have the option of testing students.
Who takes the Personal Finance Operational Assessment?
- Students who are receiving personal finance credit from embedded coursework: The online assessment is REQUIRED. The pass rate is the district’s decision.
- Students attempting to “test out” and receive personal finance credit toward graduation: The online assessment is REQUIRED. Students must attain a score of 90% or higher to receive personal finance credit. Students attempting to “test out” may attempt the test one time per testing window.
- Students who are enrolled in a personal finance course: The online assessment is OPTIONAL. Participation, however, permits the district to evaluate student achievement with an assessment fully aligned to state standards.
How many times may a student take the assessment?
- A student may take the Personal Finance Assessment ONE time per testing window. There are two testing windows in the fall and spring semesters and five windows throughout the year.
