resource, the Online Meteorology Guide, is provided by the Weather
World 2010 Project (WW2010) (described in the May 23, 1997 issue of
the Scout Report) at the University of Illinois. Modules included at
the Website are Light and Optics, Clouds and Precipitation, Forces
and Winds, Air Masses and Fronts, Weather Forecasting, Severe
Storms, Hurricanes, El Nino, and the Hydrologic Cycle. Each of these
sections provides images, animations, computer simulations, and
diagrams, as well as summaries to further explain the rudimentary
concepts of atmospheric science. An interesting facet of this site
is the Archived Case Studies section, which contains detailed
descriptions of memorable weather events such as Hurricane Andrew.
Users have the option of selecting a graphics-based or text-based
interface for each and every page. This resource is useful for K-12,

Technology Education Advocated in Secondary School Principals
Journal (63 pages): ITEA members have been working for the past year
with the National Association for Secondary School Principals (NASSP)
to create a series of articles advancing thought about technology
education. NASSP works to assist principals at the secondary level
in providing curriculum leadership. The following articles were
featured in the September, 1999 issue: "Why Technology Should
Be Integrated into the Curriculum As a Core Subject" by Anthony
F. Gilberti; "Technology Education: Essential for a Balanced
Education" by R. Thomas Wright; Design and Problem Solving in
Technology Education" by Rodney L. Custer; "Technology
Education in the Middle Level School: Its Role and Purpose" by
Mark E. Sanders; "The Untapped Power of Technology: Its Role in
Mathematics, Science, Technology, and Engineering Education" by
Pam B. Newberry; "Putting Technology Education Standards into
Practice" by William E. Dugger,Jr. ITEA's Executive Director,
Kendall N. Starkweather, indicated that- "This is just one of
the many ongoing efforts by ITEA to articulate technology education
beyond the profession and at the administrative level. He noted that
the authors of the articles were outstanding in making the case for
a strong technology education program at the secondary level. These
63 pages represent one of the largest series of articles to ever
appear in a journal outside of the immediate profession. "
Copies of this journal can be obtained from NASSP at $15.00 each.
