Service-Learning Regional Centers

The purpose of the Service-Learning Regional Centers is to provide training and technical assistance to schools who are new to Service-Learning or have never been involved in Service-Learning activities and wish to incorporate this instructional methodology in their classroom. All of their training and technical assistance is offered free of charge and they can design a presentation to best meet the needs of the school or school district. The seven individuals belwo serve as coordinaotrs in the seven Service-Learning Regional Centers.  Please locate your county above and the corresponding coordinator below.

Stephanie Hill

Hickman Mills C-1 School District
Stephanie has implemented service-learning in K-12 classrooms for the past 15 years. Stephanie and her students have presented at many local, state and national conferences and she currently serves as the Vice-Chair of the Missouri Service-Learning Advisory Council.

Diana Kornfeld

Belton 124 School District
Diana has been involved in service-learning for the past seven years.  She has served as the service-learning coordinator for the Belton School District during that time and also serves as the director of the Western Regional Center.  She and her student advisory board have presented at three national service-learning conferences.  She taught English and gifted education classes in the Belton district for 28 years.

Don Haberman

Blue Eye R-V School District
Don had been involved with service-learning for the past 7 years. He serves as the service-learning Coordinator for the Blue Eye School District and has been a curriculum coordinator, Teacher, Area School Director, and a 4MAT trainer.

Beth Nickle

Springfield R-XII School District
Beth teaches at Bailey Alternative High School in Springfield. For over 15 years, Beth has been using service-learning as a way to meet the academic needs of her students in a variety of curriculum areas. She and her students have presented at a variety of state and national conferences. She received the NYLC Certificate of Excellence in Service-Learning last year.

Jill Flakne

Fulton 58 School District
Jill has been involved with Service-learning for the past 15 years. She began working with Service-learning as the manager of a corporate restaurant that partnered with an elementary school. She has worked for Fulton Public Schools for 10 years and currently serves as a program director for the school district. She completed the NYLC Certificate of Excellence in Service-learning program in 2006.

Janet Schuster

Janet Schuster was the Service-Learning Coordinator for the Kirkwood School District for 12 years. She worked with teachers, administrators, students and community members to establish a service-learning module for the district. She was instrumental in creating the Missouri Service-Learning Advisory Council and has served on the council since its inception. Janet has given service-learning workshops nationwide.

Wayne Bock

Oak Ridge R-VI School District
Wayne has been a classroom teacher for 31 years, teaching high school English, Applied Physics and Industrial Technology. He has been involved in Service-Learning for seven years. He has coached and has been the district technology coordinator since 1995.
