Program Approval

SECONDARY

Application for Approval of Career Education Programs
The Division of Career Education has modified the Application for Approval of Career Education Programs.  Two additional items to be addressed by local districts when submitting an application are as follows:

  1. An assurance has been added which states that the district agrees to transition the program to the appropriate program of study once that information is made available to the district by the Division of Career Education.

  2. In describing the rationale for the program, the student interest survey data must be derived from Kuder or a similar student interest assessment.  If an area career center is requesting the approval for a new or expanding program, the student interest data must include data from all of the sending schools assigned to that area career center.

The Application for Approval of Career Education Programs will be accepted September 1 to May 1 for the following school year.  Questions regarding the application can be addressed to Dr. Dennis Harden, Coordinator of Career Education, at dennis.harden@dese.mo.gov or (573) 751-3500.

POSTSECONDARY

Application for Approval of Career Education Programs

In September 2007, the Division of Career Education instituted a new process for the approval of postsecondary Career Education programs.  Submit the Postsecondary Career Education Program Approval Request form to Dennis Harden, Coordinator of Career Education, at the same time a new program approval request is submitted to the Department of Higher Education.
