Career Connection

This program recognizes individuals and chapters that conduct career development projects to help young people link skills for success in careers, families and communities.  Through individual, cooperative and competitive activities, members discover their strengths, target career goals, and initiate a plan for achieving the lifestyle they desire.  This program offers activities in six unit areas:

The top middle school and high school chapter will receive a $1000 award, respectively. One $500 Runner-Up award will also be given. All national winners are required to attend and present their projects at the National Leadership Conference.  All applications must be completed online by March 1.

Community Service Award

Each community needs concerned citizens to address the problems it faces.  Working with other chapter members makes a difference by demonstrating a caring attitude and willingness to improve the community.  By identifying a need and developing an innovative community service project, your chapter could win a cash award.  All national winners are required to attend and present their projects at the National Leadership Coference.The top middle school and high school chapter will receive a $1000 award, respectively.  One $500 Runner-Up award will also be given.

Dynamic Leadership

Dynamic Leadership is a national FCCLA program that helps young people build leadership skills. It provides information, activities, and project ideas to help young people learn about leadership, recognize the lifelong benefits of leadership skills, practice leadership skills through FCCLA involvement; and become strong leaders for families, careers and communities

Dynamic leaders master six essentials of leadership.

1.   Model good character
2.   Solve problems
3.   Foster positive relationships
4.   Manage conflict
5.   Build teams
6.   Educate peers

FCCLA FACTS
(Families Acting for Community Traffic Safety)

This peer education program encourages young people to save lives through sober driving, seat belt use, and safe driving habits.  Its goals are to - 

• Discourage youth and adults from driving when under the influence of alcohol or other drugs.

• Increase the use of passenger restraints (seat belts, child safety seats, and booster seats.)

• Promote safe driving attitudes and habits among young people.

The top middle school and high school chapter will receive a $1000 award, respectively.  One $500 Runner-Up award will also be given.  All national winners are required to attend and present their projects at the National Leadership Conference.  All applications must be completed online by March 1.

Missouri FCCLA is proud to be a partner on the www.saveMOlives.com website with the Missouri Department of Transportation. Chapters can use this website to help them with resources for their FACTS projects, and also "show of their school" by submitting the chapter's project. In addition, chapters can access the NOYS (National Organizations for Youth Safety) at www.noys.org for additional traffic safety resources.

•  FACTS/National Programs Award Application

When families are strong and healthy, society as a whole is improved.  Through the Families First peer education program, FCCLA members benefit society by helping families learn to nurture socially, emotionally, mentally and physically strong, healthy individuals.

The main objectives of Families First are simple - to help young people become strong family members and leaders for today and tomorrow; and to strengthen the family as the basic unit of society.

The five units of Families First are:

1. Families Today
2. You-Me-Us
3. Meet the Challenge
4. Balancing Family and Career
5. Parent Practice

Financial Fitness

Financial Fitness is a peer education program that involves youth teaching other young people how to make, save, and spend money wisely.  Its goals are to sharpen young people's skills in money management, consumerism, and financial planning; and provide youth an opportunity to teach others and develop financial literacy, communications and leadership skills.

Units in Financial Fitness are:

1. Banking Basics
2. Cash Control
3. Making Money
4. Consumer Clout
5. Financing Your Future

 The top middle school and high school chapter will receive a $1000 award, respectively.  One $500 Runner-Up award will also be given.  All national winners are required to attend and present their projects at the National Leadership Conference.  All applications must be completed online by March 1.

Japanese Exchange Program

Be one of 14 FCCLA members to experience a Japanese tea ceremony, traditional Japanese foods, or a climb up Mount Fuji with a Japanese brother or sister!  FCCLA provides scholarship opportunities for 4 to 6 week summer programs funded by the Kikkoman Corporation. This program will award 14 FCCLA members full scholarships worth over $7,000 each. These scholarships are available only to FCCLA members in their sophomore or junior year of high school. • Japanese Exchange Award/Scholarship Application

Leaders At Work

This national program recognizes members of all chapter types who strengthen leadership skills on the job.  The goals of Leaders at Work are to recognize career-oriented FCCLA members; encourage members' leadership development; and promote family and consumer sciences related careers. 

Leaders at Work provides recognition in the following six family and consumer sciences related career areas: 

1. early childhood, education and services
2. food production and services
3. hospitality, tourism and recreation
4. housing, interiors and furnishings
5. textiles and apparel
6. family and consumer sciences education

Each member may apply to be recognized as a Leaders at Work Outstanding Leader in one of the six career areas. These young people are recognized at the annual FCCLA National Leadership Meeting and earn an impressive accomplishment to add to their resumes. In addition to National Outstanding Leader recognition, students may apply for available scholarships from AAFCS, Huber Buchenroth, and Johnson & Wales University.  Award and scholarship applications due to FCCLA National Headquarters postmarked by March 1.

•  Leaders at Work Award/Scholarship Application

Missouri FCCLA members in their junior or senior years of high school who have an interest in public policy, laws and its relation to families, careers and communities are encouraged to apply for a day of job shadowing in the Missouri General Assembly.  Up to 50 FCCLA members may be chosen for this program.  Applications are available through the state web site and due January 15.  This program is funded through Missouri FCCLA membership dues and contributions from the Missouri Educators of Family and Consumer Sciences (MoEFACS). 

Power of One

Power of One is a program for FCCLA members who want to work on their own to achieve personal goals.  Power of One helps individuals to identify those areas of greatest importance, and then turn goals into a realistic plan of action that can be completed in a short time.  Members may complete Level 1 or Level 2 projects, and may obtain ribbons or pins for local recognition.  When a member completes all five units of Power of One, they may apply for recognition at the state and national levels.  Power of One has five fun, activity-filled units: 

 To qualify for state and national recognition, all five-unit completers must apply for recognition to the state office by March 1.  Recipients will be recognized on stage at the state leadership conference.

Step One

This program is a fun way to educate your members about FCCLA.  Members may need to have access to the Chapter Handbook, national program handbooks, the information sheet, or even the FCCLA homepage to complete the Step 1 expedition.

To recognize students who have completed Step 1, chapter advisors should send their names to the Chapter Relations Coordinator at national headquarters.  They will receive a letter of congratulations.  Advisors are encouraged to purchase Step One pins for members.  The pins are available through the API Catalog.

STOP the Violence -
Students Taking On Prevention

STOP the Violence is a peer-to-peer outreach initiative that empowers young people to recognize, report, and introduce the potential for youth violence.  Its goals are: 

1. Empower students with attitudes, skills and resources to make their school safer;
2. Engage young people in efforts to prevent youth violence;
3. Use peer education to increase youth awareness of and involvement in strategies that reduce youth violence;
4. Reduce the potential for violence in schools with trained FCCLA chapters.

Chapters can apply for state and national recognition, as well as mini-grants.  Specific information on the grant and award program are available on the National FCCLA web site.  The top high school chapter will receive a $1000 award and one $500 Runner-Up award will also be given.  All national winners are required to attend and present their projects at the National Leadership Conference.  All applications must be completed online by March 1.
