Graduation from high school or GED equivalent through which knowledge of English grammar and punctuation, basic typing or keyboarding, and basic mathematics may have been acquired.
Two years of experience as an Administrative Assistant; or six years of experience successfully performing progressively responsible support tasks (Two years of which involved paraprofessional or technical support duties).
(Other qualifications and experience, which in the opinion of the Commissioner of Education meet the requirements of the position may be accepted in lieu of the above.)
Proficient in Microsoft Office software.
Must be able to lift 25 pounds.
Prepare Invitation for Bids (IFBs), Request for Purchase (RFPs) and other contracts, as appropriate.
Review/proofread manuals, documents, contracts and technical reports to ensure completeness and accuracy.
Route documents and contracts to appropriate party(ies)/section(s) for review, signature and processing.
Provide technical support to callers.
Train staff on appropriate office/section procedures and/or equipment.
Assist in making logistical arrangements for conferences and workshops.
Assist with conference and/or workshop support to include registration, creation and dissemination of materials, preparing invoices, and taking minutes.
Assist in formulating responses to requests for information.
Assist in coordinating workflow of office paperwork.
Update applications, databases, and spreadsheets in order to assist management.
Assist in creation of brochures, newsletters, PowerPoint presentations, flowcharts, organizational charts, and other meeting items.
Research, assemble, and copy documents for review teams or supervisor review.
Create and maintain budgets and other fiscal records.
Research, compile, create, and/or generate informational, statistical, and other reports.
Design electronic and other forms to capture section information in consistent format.
Receive, open, and distribute office mail to appropriate person(s).
Review bills and invoices for accuracy before completing payment paperwork.
Prepare expense reimbursement forms.
Attend meetings in order to receive/convey information, as appropriate.
Arrange travel schedules and reservations.
Communicate effectively with others in writing as indicated by the needs of the audience.
Reorganize information to get a better approach to problems or tasks.
Assist with recruiting, interviewing, selecting, and hiring persons for the organization.
Log new program approval applications, prepare approval letters and maintain vocational course approval data collection information.
Coordinate Breaking Traditions Award Ceremony.
Perform other related work as assigned.

ANNUAL LEAVE: Accrue 10 hours per month for new full-time employees, longer term State employees can earn more. Prorated leave for part-time employees in eligible positions.
SICK LEAVE: Accrue 10 hours per month. Prorated leave for part-time employees in eligible positions.
HOLIDAYS: 12 holidays per year.
RETIREMENT: Coverage provided through the Missouri State Employees Retirement System (MOSERS).
LIFE INSURANCE: Term life insurance coverage, equal to one times employee's annual salary, through the Missouri State Employees Retirement System.
OPTIONAL LIFE INSURANCE: Optional term life insurance available with maximum coverage of six times member’s annual salary. Plans are also offered for spouse and dependents. Premiums paid by employee.
CAFETERIA PLAN: Easy tax savings on employee’s cost for qualified payroll-deducted insurance plans, medical care, and dependent care.
HEALTH PLANS: Employer-paid/subsidized plans available the first day of the following month after employment.
DENTAL PLANS: Delta Dental insurance coverage is available.
VISION PLAN: Vision Service Plan (VSP) is available.
DEFERRED COMPENSATION: A payroll deduction deferred compensation plan available to defer taxes until retirement by investing in mutual funds and a fixed income account is currently provided.
