Graduation
from high school or GED equivalent through which
knowledge of English grammar and punctuation, basic typing or keyboarding, and
basic mathematics may have been acquired.
Minimum
of three years experience in progressively responsible secretarial duties,
demonstrating thorough knowledge of spelling, punctuation, grammar, and other
communication skills.
(Other qualifications and
experience, which in the opinion of the Commissioner of Education meet the
requirements of the position may be accepted in lieu
of the above.)
Excellent
computer skills and ability to adapt to specialized computer programs.
Proficient
in Microsoft Office software.
Proficient
in the use of standard office equipment, calculator, fax machine, printer.
Excellent
interpersonal abilities.

Educator
Preparation, Recruitment, and Retention
1. Support the work of the
Director and Assistant Director in the:
a. Implementation of the
Missouri Standards for the Preparation of Educators (MoSPE).
b. Evaluation and
accreditation of programs for the preparation and certification of professional
educators.
c. Preparation of materials
for the review, evaluation, and accreditation of professional education
programs.
d. Coordination,
communication, and support in working with national accreditation.
e. Development,
implementation, and communication of the new assessments for educator
preparation.
f. Provide technical
assistance to candidates regarding their assessments and progress toward the
completion of their professional certification.
g. Provide technical
assistance to educator preparation programs.
h. Preparation of materials
related to the development and implementation of the Annual Preparation
Performance Report for Educator Preparation Programs (APR-EPP).
i.
Provide
information regarding professional education programs to educator preparation
programs, school districts, governmental agencies, and other stakeholders.
j. Preparation of materials
for the Commissioner and State Board of Education.
k. Assist in contacting
vendors and arranging for meetings/workshops; prepare contracts for vendors and
meeting/training sites.
l.
Maintain
databases for the section.
m. Maintain the website for
the section.
n. Maintain monthly records
of section personnel – attendance, expenses, etc.
o. Maintain inventory of supplies
and equipment.
p. Receive, open, and
distribute incoming mail; prepare materials for mailing.
q. Answer phones for the
section; direct calls to appropriate personnel.
r. Organize and maintain the
filing system for the section.
Educator
Preparation and Certification
1. Support the work of the
Directors of Preparation and Certification in the
a. Assist in the
communication processes related to the approval of new educator preparation
programs, revisions in current certification programs, and/or discontinuance of
certification or educator preparation programs.
b.
Continue development, implementation, and
coordination of the Directory of Approved Programs.

ANNUAL LEAVE: Accrue 10 hours per month
for new full-time employees, longer term State employees
can earn more. Prorated leave for part-time employees in eligible positions.
SICK LEAVE: Accrue 10 hours per month. Prorated leave for part-time employees in
eligible positions.
HOLIDAYS: 12 holidays per year.
RETIREMENT: Coverage provided through the Missouri State Employees Retirement System (MOSERS).
LIFE INSURANCE: Term life insurance coverage, equal to one times
employee's annual salary, through the Missouri State Employees Retirement
System.
OPTIONAL LIFE INSURANCE: Optional term life insurance available with maximum
coverage of six times member’s annual salary. Plans are also offered for
spouse and dependents. Premiums paid by employee.
CAFETERIA PLAN: Easy tax savings on employee’s cost for
qualified payroll-deducted insurance plans, medical care, and dependent care.
HEALTH PLANS: Employer-paid/subsidized plans available
the first day of the following month after employment.
DENTAL PLANS: Delta Dental insurance coverage is
available.
VISION PLAN: Vision Service Plan (VSP) is available.
DEFERRED COMPENSATION: A payroll deduction deferred compensation plan available to
defer taxes until retirement by investing in mutual funds and a fixed income
account is currently provided.
