EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree with certification to teach in Missouri’s schools, Master’s degree preferred.

 

Minimum two years’ of successful professional work experience in the field of education and/or educational technology.

 

(Other qualifications and experience, which in the opinion of the Commissioner of Education meet the requirements of the position may be accepted in lieu of the above.)

 

 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

 

General knowledge and understanding of current state-wide and program-wide online assessment practices.

 

Ability to communicate effectively with large and small groups of educators, both orally and in writing.

 

Ability to prepare written materials with a minimum of external editing.

 

Ability to plan, coordinate, and administer activities with minimal day-to-day supervision.

 

Ability to establish rapport and maintain effective working relationships with DESE, Office of Administration and other state departments, school district, and other partner agencies.

 

Ability to utilize Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, social media such as FaceBook, Twitter, and other similar programs; ability to maintain OCCR web pages using Adobe Contribute; ability to use Adobe Connect;  

 

Knowledge of or ability to learn, InDesign and other publishing programs. 

 

 

 

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED

 

Position responsible for assisting schools and school districts in evaluating and identifying technology needs for online state assessments, working with OCCR and other DESE staff in all facets of webinar production, assisting OCCR staff in maintaining web pages,  providing training and developing training materials for OCCR staff on use of available technology, updating staff on current trends in technology that could enhance their work flow, and developing relationships with agency partners.

 

Provide assistance to school districts on technology specifications needed for online assessments.

 

Assist districts in determining their online limitations and capacity.

 

Anticipate school technology and capacity needs as agency-supported programs and services are developed and implemented.

 

Demonstrate thorough knowledge and understanding of each facet of webinar production.

 

Administer  DESE’s license of the Adobe Connect webinar system, troubleshoot and assist with webinars across the Department, Assist with hosting and scheduling of webinars as needed, add new users to the system and assign administration rights, assist with editing of recordings and content and seminar room management, develop training materials and provide training to new users of Connect and provide training to staff when a Connect upgrade occurs, work with Carahsoft and Adobe Connect helpdesks to troubleshoot errors for staff.

 

Provide technical assistance to OCCR and other DESE staff as appropriate on software use, online products supported by the Missouri Office of Administration and other products such as social media, Google docs and cloud applications.

 

Demonstrate knowledge of Adobe Contribute and ability to update OCCR web pages.

 

Provide technical assistance and training to OCCR staff on web page design and assist them in keeping pages up-to-date.

 

Assist staff in posting model-curriculum.

 

Assist staff in maintaining listservs.

 

Demonstrate willingness to learn and keep up with educational technology trends.

 

Perform other related work as assigned.

 

Participate in activities sponsored by state and national organizations (the International Society for Technology in Education, and the State Educational

Technology Directors Association), including making presentations at related conferences and events (such as the Missouri Educational Technology Conference).

 

Participate on Department teams to develop cross-section activities that further the integration of technology into the Department work flow.

 

Work with vendors, partners (including MoreNET) and Department staff to offer opportunities to the school districts of Missouri that further the integration of technology into their education process and work flow.

BENEFITS (For a Full-Time Position)

 

ANNUAL LEAVE:  Accrue 10 hours per month for new full-time employees, longer term State employees can earn more. Prorated leave for part-time employees in eligible positions.

 

SICK LEAVE:  Accrue 10 hours per month.  Prorated leave for part-time employees in eligible positions.

 

HOLIDAYS:  12 holidays per year.

 

RETIREMENT:  Coverage provided through the Missouri State Employees Retirement System (MOSERS).

 

LIFE INSURANCE:  Term life insurance coverage, equal to one times employee's annual salary, through the Missouri State Employees Retirement System.

 

OPTIONAL LIFE INSURANCE:  Optional term life insurance available with maximum coverage of six times member’s annual salary.  Plans are also offered for spouse and dependents. Premiums paid by employee.

 

CAFETERIA PLAN:  Easy tax savings on employee’s cost for qualified payroll-deducted insurance plans, medical care, and dependent care.

 

HEALTH PLANS:  Employer-paid/subsidized plans available the first day of the following month after employment.

 

DENTAL PLANS:  Delta Dental insurance coverage is available.

 

VISION PLAN:  Vision Service Plan (VSP) is available. 

 

DEFERRED COMPENSATION:  A payroll deduction deferred compensation plan available to defer taxes until retirement by investing in mutual funds and a fixed income account is currently provided.
